In case you missed Saturday’s NYT Mini, you can find the answers here:
Wondering what kind of rural waterway sounds like a haunted house noise? Not sure what American Eagle’s lingerie and loungewear brand is called? Don’t worry, because I’m here to help you with the answers for today’s NYT Mini crossword.
The NYT Mini is a quick and dirty version of the newspaper’s larger and long-running crossword. Most days, there are between three and five clues in each direction on a five by five grid, but the puzzles are often larger at the weekends.
Unlike its larger sibling, the NYT Mini crossword is free to play on the New York Times website or NYT Games app. However, you’ll need an NYT Games subscription to access previous puzzles in the archives.
The NYT Mini is a fun daily distraction that usually takes no time at all. I try to beat the standard weekday grid in less than a minute. But sometimes I can’t quite figure out one or two clues and need to reveal the answer.
To help you avoid doing that, here are the NYT Mini Crossword answers for Sunday, July 21 (spoilers lie ahead, of course):

6 Across clue: Wind-___ (carried by the wind)
7 Across clue: Golf lesson topic
8 Across clue: French word before a maiden name
Down
1 Down clue: Fully adult … which sounds like a haunted house noise?

It took me 1:19 to complete today’s NYT Mini.
I managed to get three of the Across answers on my first run through: GAP, BORNE and SWING. I needed a little extra help for the other two, but I should have figured out NEE. I got all of the Down answers as well, save for AERIE (I’d never heard of it). However, having the first and last letters helped me figure out NEE to complete the puzzle.
I did enjoy the CREEK and GROAN puns, I have to admit.
