Battlestate Games has announced that a new patch for Escape From Tarkov will launch tomorrow, Monday, April 14. The new patch will be known as patch 0.14.5.5 and will bring with it some server downtime.
Escape From Tarkov patch 14.5.5 will launch tomorrow, April 14, with the installation process beginning at 8:00 am BST / 3:00 am EDT. This is expected to take around four hours, and during this time the Escape From Tarkov servers will be down, meaning you will not be able to play the game. However, as always, there is a chance this server downtime could be extended beyond that.
There is currently no word on what patch 14.5.5 will include but given that we only just got the 14.5 patch, which included a big rework to the Woods map and a new matchmaking queue for the Ground Zero map that opened it up to higher level players, it seems unlikely that this will be a major update, and is more likely to fix bugs that were implemented with the last patch.
Since the 14.5 patch, there have been a few new bugs popping up, with quite a few tied to the addition of the BTR to Woods. It seems that the uneven terrain on the map has proven a little challenging for the AI driver of the vehicle, and there have been some reports of the BTR being invisible with just the driver present. It seems to be a relatively safe bet that these bugs will be ironed out with the launch of the 14.5.5 patch.
In his interview with Pestily, game director Nikita Buyanov also mentioned that a number of features and changes would be coming very soon, and while a lot of them were added in the 14.5 patch, some are still yet to materialise, so could be included in the 14.5.5 patch tomorrow.
The patch arrives as we start to head towards the later stages of the current wipe. The last wipe was in late December 2023, meaning another wipe is due in the next few months. With Tarkov firmly in the later stages of the wipe, it is a difficult game for anyone who hasn’t been playing a lot since December. But there will likely be some more in-game events coming up soon that should give more players a reason to return.
