Wordle Analysis
Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.
My old strategy paid off today. I’ll often guess a word with an ‘A’ and an ‘E’ in it for my first guess, and then a word with an ‘O’ and an ‘I’ in it for my second. Depending on the letters that pop up for my first word, I’ll often fallback on HOIST or BOINK for guess #2. With just one measly yellow ‘S’ from SLATE, I decided to go with all new letters for my second guess and chose BOINK (HOIST would have had a grey ‘T’ as well). This was lucky because both my first two boxes turned up green. According to Wordle Bot I had two choices at this point, but I didn’t even think of BOSOM and went with BOSSY instead. Lucky me, it was the Wordle!
Competitive Wordle Score
I get 1 point for guessing in three and another for beating the Bot, who took four tries today. If only it was 2XP Friday! Still, 2 points is good in my book!
How To Play Competitive Wordle
- Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
- If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
- Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
- You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!
Today’s Wordle Etymology
The word “bossy” comes from the noun “boss,” which itself has Dutch origins. The Dutch word baas, meaning “master” or “overseer,” was adopted into English in the mid-17th century, mainly in the American colonies. It was used to refer to a person who is in charge or has authority over others.
The adjective “bossy” emerged in the late 19th century, adding the suffix “-y” to “boss.” The suffix denotes having the qualities or characteristics of the root word—in this case, implying someone who acts like a boss. Over time, “bossy” took on a negative connotation, often describing someone who is domineering, controlling, or overly authoritative in a way that is seen as annoying or overbearing.
